This sounds pointless, but if you own a 2nd Xbox 360 with a Dummy Account this can actually be a benefit since you can allow your dummy to play online with your main account for 60 Minutes without actually purchasing a second full copy of Quake Arena Arcade. Note: You will only be able to do Player Matches in multiplayer and the timer in multiplayer does not start until the match you are in begins. While most Trial Versions of Xbox Live Arcade games only feature a small amount of content which the user can witness before they wish to buy the game, Quake Arena Arcade is the opposite, giving access to almost everything with a time limit. And it's also been praised for the additional features from Quake III Team Arena and the extra voice-overs added to the game. However, it has been praised for maintaining the Quake III Arena gameplay and for returning beloved features from the original game. The single player campaign has been criticized for its difficulty and some of the achievements are known to have glitches. One common critique the Xbox 360 only supports a controller, compared to mouse and keyboard as preferred by classic Quake players.

The game has been moderately successful but has been criticized for not living up to its full potential compared to the original Quake III Arena game. The Xbox 360 version entitled "Quake Arena Arcade" contains a majority of the maps, bots and weapons from both Quake III Arena & Quake III Team Arena it also includes an exclusive single player campaign with new levels and challenges, exclusive maps, online multiplayer, leaderboards and the inclusion of new music themes.
